“10 litres of shower gel”
-
We travelled back from dahn sahf on Tuesday. The journey back was far less pleasant and included a surprise appearance from the low oil level warning light on my car, and a fair bit of traffic, which meant it took 6 hours instead 4.
Still, the trip was a successful one having completed all the tasks we needed to do, including 8 different appointments. Some decisions to be made now.
I even managed a trip to the gym one day, and to balance everything, a meal at our favourite restaurant.
The trip was all much worse in my head than in reality. As usual. Have you even been anywhere if you don’t stress about it for a couple of weeks beforehand?

The recent Amazon Prime Day sale got me but I might’ve bought stuff I actually need instead of random guff. What I’m saying is I bought 10.8 litres of shower gel.
-
I also bought an electric blanket 🥶

Rails 8.1 adds association deprecation to safely remove unused relationships
This is welcome and interesting feature 👏 It does feels like a plaster though. As I’ve said before, so much refactoring is difficult/dangerous in Ruby because we can’t be sure we’ve caught all call sites when making changes, and associations are only a small part of the problem. Still, very welcome I’d say.

Three more builders this week. The first was in the house maybe 6 minutes, and was quickly onto payment terms. The second was very nice, but seemed like a construction version of George Burns. And the third seemed “OK” but confirmed the appointment an hour before, on a Sunday.
It is becoming increasingly clear that there might not be a best option, only least worst. Everything is pros and cons. Our current favourite remains.

A fair bit of socialising this week compared to most. Friday night dinner with friends at a new restaurant we hadn’t tried before, and a lunch time catch-up with Discoliam in Sheffield on Saturday. Sheffield is further than I remembered.
