“A Heart That Works”
-
A slightly shorter week again. Away at the weekend visiting family.
-
I watched my first two Christmas films of year – Violent Night, and The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special.
I enjoyed them both, but David Harbour in Violent Night does a great job of being a jaded Santa Claus.
-
It’s that time of year again – Advent of Code. The code required for Advent of Code is so far removed from the code I write daily. I don’t know what that says. Nothing I write at “work” approaches “algorithm”. Maybe it should.
I have enjoyed attempting Advent of Code in the past, but not sure I’m up for it this year.
-
I enjoyed A Heart That Works by Rob Delaney. It was brave, and funny, and tragic. I can’t even begin to imagine their pain.
If you’re a parent, I would give it a miss.
-
I re-mapped the Raycast Emoji picker to the macOS default which is Ctrl + Cmd + Space.
-
A reminder that there are data types available specifically for storing IP and Mac addresses in Postgres (and other databases).
-
Terrible news this week that Chris Seaton, of TruffleRuby fame, has died. Tenderlove and Searls both wrote nice tributes. Such a shame.
-
ChatGPT is genuinely amazing. Yes, it probably can’t be trusted to be 100% correct, especially in terms of code correctness, but for generating ideas, or jumping off points, it seems incredibly valuable.
